I found this butterfly in my greenhouse. What kind of butterfly is it and will it start laying eggs and eating my tomato plant?

I have googled the internet and found this.....Butterfly Conservation - Gatekeeper Could this be it?

It's a Gatekeeper and your tomatos will be fine, just either let it find its own way out or gently (both hands cupped) corral it and let it go outside.

And join the Big Butterfly Count ( see separate thread - must learn how to do that) it really is fun!

It's Gatekeeper (also known as the Hedge Brown) is often encountered where clumps of flowers grow in gateways and along hedgerows and field edges..
            It can help your tomatoes!!
