  • Awww, look who popped in down the chimney!

We have just had a massive storm here and heard something drop into the fireplace. Fortunately the wood burner door was closed because Trevor (our Jack Russell) was very keen to get in and kill this poor little sausage.

Click on the picture to see it bigger.

He is currently in a covered shoe box with a tea-towel in. He seems to be OK so we will let him go out to play with his little friends at dusk.

She looks a little fruity too.

Not too sure about the name tag you've given it though.

Recently I was sitting having a cuppa and kept hearing a scuffling sound, I peered into the stove and a very ash covered starling peered back at me! He was sooo glad to be rescued he didn't struggle at all!

        Your bat looks really cute!

We have had 5 baby sparrows down our wood burner, have kept the back plate off now, they even peck the glass to tell us that they are there all females so far.....

Weeelllll, not sure on that one

We tried to let him go last night after it got dark but he didn't seem to want to go. We are not sure if he was injured or just a bit confused but he was feisty enough so we assumed the latter. We put him back in the shoe box in the bathroom (which is built into the barn) and left him overnight to take him to the rescue centre this morning.

When we checked in the morning, he was nowhere to be seen! He must have escaped from the box and crawled under the skirting into the barn and out that way. One thing is for sure, he isn't in the bathroom or bedroom because we let Trevor look (attached to his lead) and he would have found it if it was.

Hopefully, he will be ok, but there is no way to be completely sure.

So cute! When we replaced our we had stacked all the old rag slates at the top of the scaffolding to be carried down one at a time as we had a buyer for them. When it came to moving them, a bat had roosted between two of them! He was pretty cheesed off when we disturbed him, but after flying around in a squinty fashion a couple of times, he flew off to join his mates who live in the big Sycamore at the bottom of the garden.
