    Anyone have a good recipe for feeding butterflies.

    I have noticed that there are a load of butterflies around at the moment during the sunny spell that we are having but not much in the way of nectar for them to feed on. I would like to put some extra food out for them but I'm not sure what to use. Does anyone have a good recipe or is just sugar water good enough.

      Sugar solution or honey will do the job.

        If you can put the solution on / in something bright yellow / blue / red - the sort of colours butterflies will be natuarlly attracted to.

          Would they feed on fruit. I saw the tropical ones at Wisley and they had halved oranges and peaches.

            Thank you everyone. I found some strawberries in the back of the freezer and I had some very ripe melon in the fridge so I have made up a mixture of them with sugar water. Hopefully they'll like that. I'll let you know how I get on.
