    Locally sourced honey in North Cheshire.

    Hello Bee Keepers,

    Some assistance required, my Grandaughter suffers from hay fever and her mum has read that honey produced in roughly the same local area is could for the condition, does anyone know of a supplier/farm in the Halton/Warrington area of North Cheshire.

      As a long standing beekeeper, I'd say the hay fever cure works but only if you eat the CAPPINGS of the honey, ie the wax, pollen and honey scraped off the comb before the honey is extracted. Logically it should NOT work as the pollens in honey are rarely the same ones to which people allergic (grass pollens or pollen from trees like willows... although some people are allergic to oilseed rape pollen).
      I suffered very badly from hay fever but it disappeared quickly once I started keeping bees. It could be coincidence, it could be the honey cappings, or it could even be that getting stung frequently triggers the immune system to react in a different way to a variety of things. Personally I believe the latter though I have no empirical evidence to prove it.
