  • Yellow leaves on Broad Beans

I have some fine young broad bean plants which are about 10 inch tall. The lower leaves seem to be yellowing, any ideas?

    many thanks

Are they in open ground, or in pots? Yellowing lower leaves suggests lack of food or water, and I don't think I have ever seen it in broad beans. I would make sure they have enough water, and if necessary apply a fertiliser (either round the plants and water in or a foliar feed)
Tomatoes do this regularly, and so do brassicas (esp sprouting broccoli and brussel sprouts) - in these cases you just pull the yellow (dead) leaves off. This leaves room for the fruit (or sprouts) to develop and causes no harm to the plant.
