Not sure but I am gonna guess at slug/snail eggs. I am sure the experts will be along soon.

Yep, best guess is slug or snail. I usually find them under stones or bits of old wood, rather than buried in the soil.

Like small white shiny marbles? Slug or snail egg clusters - squash them

I found a slug in one of the ring pots above our grow bags today, on plucking it out for Mr D to dispose of it was to find that it was laying white eggs just like those mentioned above! Needless to say a teaspoon was brought out and eggs removed and squished!

                  Kill Them All!!

I havefound loads of them too! None of my seeds have germinated in these tubs, is that why or is it simply the REALLYwet weather? Is there something I can treat the soil with to kill the little buggers or do I have to pick the kritters one by one?

I have found loads of these this year - part of the slug and snail population explosion I reckon. Some of them pop out of the soil like huge clusters - so they go straight on my path for the birds to feed on.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
