Can anyone tell me what the name of the chemical barrier that farmers use to stop weeds forming their first set of leaves and prevents weed seeds that fall on top of the barrier from taking root? I was taught this when I done the RHS course but I cant think for the life of me what it is called now.

My uncle used to apply summat with his swede crop which kept the weeds down but didn't affect the swede crop. I have the funny feeling it was called RamrodComment

and to keep anything from growing on a limited area there is/was stuff called Caseron G4. No connection with our G4 mind.

I was correct to is/was. Caseron came off the market in 2009 and had to be used by 2010Comment
