Hmmm, the Devils Coachorse beetle looks about right! Are they friend or foe in the garden?

I'd leave it be- It will eat other insects which may be good or bad depending on what they kill. They will eat worms, but I think I'm more danger to the worm population ( armed with a spade)than that little beetle.
It's lovely what you notice when your pootling about isn't it!!

Keep your fingers away from them. I remember my brother running up the garden with one dangling from his finger when we were kids. Scarred him for life.

            Definitely Devils Coach Horse.
