Hi Dave 77 I am so sorry this has happened I just can't understand the mentality of people like that. I'm afraid I am no expert and I'm sure someone will be along soon to give you some advice. I grow strawberries and I've never seen anything like that on mine it could well be the effect of detox multi purpose
Dogs have masters, cats have slaves, and horses are just wonderful

I can't help with the cause of your current problems, sorry, but you've had similar issues before http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...t=#post1347556
Did the tomatoes recover, and did the leaves look similar to the strawberries?

I removed all leaves from tomatoes and they did recover, however this was before they poured detol cleaner neat on there balcony it splashed over me whilst I was twining up tomatoes I had been there for ten minutes doing it and they were watching so knew I was there I went and covered the baskets with bin liners over tomatoes to protect best I could , they then poured the liquid directly on to my kiwi climber which I was unable to cover, I hosed it down but some leave turned mottled black and the tomato leaves has black peppering where it had splashed before I managed to cover and I had to remove all the effected leaves. But the strawberry leaves have suddenly turned in last two days which makes me worry that because I complained to landlord they may be using a weedkiller or similar.

How awful, do you know what their problem is with you growing? Do they think it's attracting insects or a mess or something? Seems ridiculous but maybe, in their heads, there is a perceived problem.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I would say that that is not only dangerous to the plants health but also to yours! Absolutely awful for them to act this way, no matter their thinking!

Oh I totally agree but if they do have a reason for not liking what the OPer is doing (and it sounds remarkably harmless to me) it might be down to a misconception which can be solved. That doesn't excuse their behaviour but sorting the source issue / concern MAY so,be the problem without a painful battle that hurts everybody. Wouldn't want to see this on the Neighbours at War TV programme!

                Oh you have my sympathy.
I've had some really horrible neighbours but yours sound like real gems.

The trouble is, it starts to consume you.
Their close proximity affects everything that you do...you feel them watching....it's overwhelming. Seriously...I'd be trying to find a way out of there if it were me.

Re your strawberries; it's so hard to tell if the damage is viral or was inflicted by your neighbours....you're unlikely to prove it either way.

                  Hi Alison

I am unsure of what there problem is with me gardening on my patio , it is kept neat and confined to my patio area and it has flowers to it gives colour to an other wise bare dull space, they do not do food recycling and store there bin bags on there balcony so if there is cause of insects there bins would attract them. I have had to put a lock on my own bin as we had trouble with them filling there own bin and then throwing the rest in ours, they also allow there 7 year old to use the ceiling as a bouncy castle till early hours in the morning, I would just say they were not considerate or great eople they are also very young,

That is absolutely horrible, outrageous behaviour! I am so sorry you are going through this.

Would it be possible for you to film them doing this so that you can go to the landlord with evidence?

Could you fix anything over the top of your balcony to deflect whatever horrible substances they are throwing at your plants?

Balcony is directly above tried filming but unless I am standing in the garden you can not film or photo them and there no stupid enough to do it then, I thought about some way of fixing some deflecting shield last year but there balcony is smaller than mine meaning it would have to over hang by approx 80cm to protect the plants and the metal supports won't allow to attach anything that would be stable enough to hold.
I just went out this morning and found a clump of my tomato leaves dying and wilting in a 15cm area with some dried white residfue on them see photos of leaves and balcony over hang. They have a metal surrounded bar balcony mine is more of a patio area with a wooden enclosed tile area and steps down to the communal garden so it could be jealousy?

It's a bit difficult to see clearly but I wonder if the white on the underside of this leaf (in your second picture) is the "halo" that is sometimes apparent with tomato blight ..........

Hello thanks, no it's not a halo and there are no signs of either early or late blight. The plants the only effected areas are those displaying the white powdery residue , leaves either side are fine and healthy , the leaves are limp with discolouration and moist scorching.

thats awful - I cant believe someone would do that!!

I agree though - may be worth talking them to understand their issues, it might be something you can overcome? If not I'd be moving house - neighbourhood disputes are just not worth it, it consumes you
