  • Root Barriers

I've had it suggested to me that I should put a barrier between my fruit plants and my paths to stop the runners ripping up the weed membrane on the paths. Supposedly you can get plastic that can be pushed in to create a barrier but all my searches are just bringing up weed membrane fabric.

Has anyone done this before and can recommend a good product? I'm hoping it will not only stop the fruit spreading but also limit the couch grass coming in from the back of the plot.

Anything can be pushed in to be a barrier kat, old roof tiles or slates, dig a trench and put a plastic sheet or something down there on its edge ( old compost bags for example) .

What everyone else says plus I found Mexican Marigolds actually worked to keep couch grass at bay from next doors. Apparently the roots give off something that couch grass doesn't like.

What are the actual fruit plants you are trying to restrict? Raspberries and such like will find a way. Mine are in buckets and the roots were out and at 'em in their first year
