  • Mice everywhere!

Whilst sat in my conservatory about a week ago, I noticed a large house mouse climbing up my bird table and helping itself. The next day I saw two more, since then I have seen up to four at a time in the garden. I have taken all the bird food down to limit food supplies. I think they may be nesting under my shed (there is hole in the floor) I have put down 4 traps with peanut butter (all ignored) and some rat/mouse poison (also ignored) Any advice gratefully received please!!
A bad days fishing is still better than a good day at work!

I do realise that the invasion is tiresome and a total waste of chocolate treats but last year we had a badger lodger. Now that was real scary

They do love chocolate the best but they can be clever little devils. The chocolate gets eaten but the traps in my shed never seem to get the mice. I have metal bait stations around the garden and the blue blocks do get eaten so hopefully I'm getting them that way.

I had mice eating my mangetout this year. Was worried that if it continued they would make a hole in the pumpkins later on in the season. I tried building a few of the cheap DIY ones that you see on youtube but all failed. So I decided to buy various traps. I dont like taking a life so they were all trap and release devices. The most expensive one that should have been capable of trapping 4 at any one time was useless! The best it could do was trap greedy fat slugs!!!!

The best devices that I found were the single tip tubes. Sort of a square black tube bent at 45 degrees. Caught one a night at first. Must use peanut butter seems to work really well.

What did you do with the trapped mice?

Apparently you must release a couple of miles away or they just find their way home

I took them with me on my way to work. Dropped them off about 10miles away.
