  • Windy day

Anyone else experiencing severe winds and rain, and is it causing any problems in the garden/plot? My little apple trees are blowing all over the place despite the fact they have support - had to go out and stack chairs up etc as they were blowing about.

Yes the wind if awful here!
Its more like gusts which are really going at my brassicas....if they are still there in the morning?!
I planted an ornamental japanese cheery at the front of the house at the end of August, its being blown about all over the place, even the tree stake is looking a little wobbly!

I lost a mely lavender too It snapped completely off and it had just flowered....

I also have some preperation for my (soon arriving) raspberries but cant even do that...oh well I made the HFW cake instead

Very windy here too...the PSB has keeled over!! Bit gutted as they looked like they were going to sprout soon. At least the smaller plants are study enough to survive - apart from the rosmary that was totally squashed when a pot fell on it....
If it ain't broke...fix it til it is!

Wind still awful, my fleece on the cabbages blew off, and will have to stay off til it calms down. Shame about your lavender Northepaul and W33blegurl's rosemary. I hate when that happens. Haven't inspected mine yet, it was just a case of rescuing my fleece before it flew away.

A bit damp and breezy up here but nothing out of the ordinary. I was recently talking to a chap who moved up here from the midlands and he asked why Cumbrian rain was always horizontal instead of falling downwards

Very windy here since Friday night. The pot plants were all horizontal Saturday morning, so I left them lying down until we got home just now.

The wind has ripped the plastic covers and the shelves right off and out of the little greenhouses (which I have tied to the walls). Potting compost all over the patio. Again.

Luckily it calmed down on Sunday here and was quite a nice day, today is even better; no rain or wind.....so far!
Mr TK arrived home on the plane with no probs, and was pleased to see that his polytunnel (home made) was still standing and all his fencing!
