  • Batten down the hatches

Apologies if already posted and most people with greenhouses, blow aways and poly tunnels will probably be following the weather anyhow. But, just in case you missed it, I've been out and tied my window latches and bolted the greenhouse door:

    BBC Weather - United Kingdom

    YELLOW EARLY WARNING for WIND

Very strong southwesterly winds for the time of year are expected to extend eastwards across much of Wales, southern and central England. Gusts of 50 mph are likely to develop fairly widely inland with gusts of 55-65 mph along exposed coasts in the south and west.

The public should be aware that some disruption to transport is possible along with possible damage to trees.

    Valid 0900 to 2100 Thursday.

While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.

It's here!!!! Here's Billy (Said in a 'here's Johnny' kind of way)
Its sounding pretty windy here but I don't know what speed it is. The trees surrounding the garden can make it sound windier than it is.
Hold tight everybody, and be careful out there.

I don't know if I dare risk putting the washing out! I could be hopping over the border into Wales to collect it if it gets any windier.

The wind has a strange effect on me.
My mum used to say that it turned me into the Incredible Hulk. I find it very aggravating, blowing my hair around, making a load of noise in my ears, blowing my skirt up or blowing my blouse or coat over my head if I bend over in the garden.
Mums advice was to stay in if its a bit windy.

Very windy here and the tops of the trees are bowing right over. Means I will find a tonne of cr@p in the garden come tomorrow then.

Its getting really windy here I've been out twice now to re-peg down my fleece, so there's no way I'm going to put the debris netting on my brassica frame like I'd planned to today.

                          stay safe out there.
