For anyone who does have to go out, take a large spare pair of old socks with you in your pocket - then if things get very slippery, put them on over the top of your boots or shoes to give better grip.

We have freezing rain too, -4.5C this morning. All the twigs are encased in glass and the paving has gone all shiny. Not going far from the wood burner today!!

Thermals, 3 jumpers, fleece lined trousers, hat, scarf and fingerless gloves - and the whole choir bouncing up and down like (branded battery) bunnies in between each carol to keep warm!

lashing rain here and blowing a hoolie. We have a warped front door so I tried sticking on some gap filling strip but then the latch wouldn't catch and the door wouldn't lock . had to take it off again. I've stuck on some masking tape for tonight. A new door will be one of the major priorities in the new year.

Same scenario here and my thoughts exactly. Dunno how we ever managed without the woodburner.
