So as this was my first year I just bought two “blow-aways”...I’ve certainly found out where the name comes from!

I had loads of stuff outside in pots and bags but my 6 tomato plants, 3 cucumbers, countless peppers, chillies & herbs all demolished as the greenhouses (that were “weighed” down with bags of stones) still managed to get thrown half across the garden :-(

Hubby has put them back in pots for me, all bent over...do I do anything to try and save them or are they gone?

As long as the main stems are not actually snapped, sap can rise and they may pick up again.

Sorry to hear that, even if any stems are bent or a little crushed, put a splint on,it keeps it straight and lets the sap ext rise, whist keeping in the moisture,i have used any type of sticky tape, selotape, duck tape, you can only do the best for them, last year i did a dahlia stem outside,it lived to bloom, also if just the top has gone, they could shoot from the leafe axles, hope you can save at least something.
REf the cue,if the top is spapped off,put it in water till roots appear then pot up

Went to Brechin garden centre, all the hills are white down to a couple of hundred feet above sea level, we are ok at the coast, but it's only 5 degrees out there.
