Below is a great little read on a victorian seed collecter.......

BBC Inside Out - Shotgun gardener

I just love the shotgun approach to gardening I'm not sure the neighbours would be too happy though!

    Typical Victorian innovation!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

There's a couple of lads keep breaking into our lottie and pinching anything they can sell on for drugs. Any chance you can come up and shoot them with grape seed? Sorry, I mean grapeshot! Or even Buckweed? No, that should be buckshot! You know what I mean!!!! Just a little splash of red here and there.

Poppy, cornflower, and fennel seeds!! They're bad enough for spreading as it is but imagine the swathe you'd get....it'd be fantastic. especially if you don't like your neighbour
