  • wusabi

I love sushi and exspecially the green spicy stufff that comes with it. Its called wusabi and i have researched it and found that they can survive in england and are very hardy. Does anybody known how to grow this and what are the dates of planting and harvesting and all that.

Nope, if I did I'd probably be able to get you some. Not grown it myself but hopefully someone will come along and help you.

Me too and it needs virtually no looking after, just put it in a big tub and away it goes

If you do a search for "wasabi horseradish" several sites seem to suggest that a lot of the wasabi we get is just coloured horseradish.

I too grow horseradish. If anyone wants a thong (root) next year than give me a PM.

The japanese version is called wasabi not wusabi and so is the sushi sauce. It is grown exactly like horseradish. Get a thong next March time or later. It grows like a weed.

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

i have never grown horseradish so would wasabi grow as a ground cover and when do you exspect to plant to harvest this.

If it grows similar to horseradish it will die off to nothing in the winter and start growing leaves in the spring again. As has already been mentioned, the hardest part may be getting hold of the seeds in the first place!

I love Wasabi too and probably use enough to warrant giving it a go next year, so thanks for posting.

As someone else mentioned, the wasabi you get over here is less than 2% wasabi. It's just horseradish with a bit of wasabi and some green colouring.

I read a blog post somewhere where the person managed to get some fresh wasabi and thought it was crap in comparison to the faux-wasabi, so I wouldn't go too mental over it.
