  • Winter Beetroot

Mooching on Ebay I saw a winter beetroot variety called 'Lutz'
I didn't know there was a winter variety of my favourite veg.
    Has anyone tried it?

I haven't tried it but on doing a wee bit of research, it's renowned as a winter keeper as opposed to a winter grower which of course is quite different. Beet & Beetroot: Lutz Salad Leaf Overview - Plant Guide

Unfortunately when ever I plant with instructions from packets, books, internet etc my little poppets just do what they want when and if they want. It's always thrilling to look outside and bounce up and down shouting Whoop Whoop something is growing - next year I WILL label everything!

If you want to eat the leaves, plant something easier: leafbeet aka chard, a tough, winterproof relative of beetroot
