  • Will these germinate?

    Last night I had some dinner which included 2 chillies ( I think you all know where this is going ) I got the seeds and chucked them in a pot and compost then covered!

    No drying of the seeds nothing just straight out of the chilli into the compost will they germinate or rot I have my growing chillies sown just and experiment really

        You only dry them to keep them overwinter. Fresh ones should germinate fine.

          You should be OK but as Hollychap states you might have been better allowing them to dry for say 24 hours or more!

          Most of my pepper originate from this method and I give them names like;

          Tesco Yellow and Calahonda, these names refer to where I purchased the original pepper!

          as you can see here;
          Treat the earth well,

          it was not given to you by your parents,

          it was loaned to you by your children.

                No need to dry at all!

                These sweet peppers are from a red pepper (store bought) that we had for lunch on 31st December - seeds shaken straight out of the pepper onto the compost.

                            Once I had all my main ones sown this year, I also sowed a variety called " shop"
                            Just for the fun of it... Although they were nice...
                            I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

                            ...utterly nutterly

                              "Shop" is the best variety to grow - because it's more than free, it's a free bonus, because it's fresh and therefore very fertile, and because you already know what it's going to taste like!
