  • When do you sow your corns?

When do you sow your corns inside (or directly outside if you do that)?

  • #2
If we're talking sweetcorn, I sow mine directly outside mid-May, when there's no longer any chance of frost. Night-time temperatures then will be around 11-12 ºC, daytime temps in the low 20s.

I will be chitting mine about a week from now then planting in rootrainers once they germinate. Then I can plant out in May when the nights are warmer.

Will probably sow in the conservatory next weekend

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

May - well reminded Martin and Bario - I'd forgotten I'd bought root trainers!

I sow mine in the greenhouse at the start of May and then plant them outside when they're about 10cm tall.

In bog roll centres, they are about 4" tall now and will go out in a fortnight.
I may well add a second sowing direct to the ground around then too.
