  • what do spring onion seedlings look like?

Hi I have no idea if what is coming up is spring onions or weeds. The packet does not have a pic on it.

If anyone can post a pic or explain I'd be very grateful

The seedling come up like an arch then become upright as a single leaf.

A bit like when a leek comes up? I know this as mine are coming up - yay!

In which case they may well be onions. I will have another looksee in a few days.

        Thanks

Yes, they come up in a small arch then the end pops up, sometimes with the small black seed casing still attached, then it straightens into a slender leaf.

Last year only some of our spring oinons germinated (after about 3 weeks) even though they are supposed to germinate fast.
In the end we thought the rest had just rotted in the ground so we put more seed in. These then germinated about a month later.
