  • What can I start to sow now??

    Hi all

I would like to start sowing now but have very limited space inside only a kitchen window that gets alot of sun all day. I have a gold frame and here leeks are ok to go out into there once pencil thickeness, anything else anyone can suggest that I can start off?

One more thing on the back of seed packs it says sow indoors-does this mean somewhere warm e.g heated greenhouse or will an unheated greenhouse do? or even my cold frame?

    thanks guys and gals

    Hi, New2,
It depends on how much growing room you have out side really. Broad beans and peas do not need any heat to germinate so could be sown direct into the ground or started in modules in your cold frame/green house. Lettuce are quite tough little beasts and I have some Webbs Wonderful that have germinated in my unheated green house. Early carrots can go straight in the ground if given a bit of protection (plastic cloche).
Things that will appreciate your warm sunny windowsill are Tomatoes, peppers and chillies. I'm sure other grapes will have a lot more advice and suggestions. Good luck!
