Not sure about the correct answer to your question I am afraid but I think Weedol becomes inactive when it hits the soil. I am sure a more expert grape will be along shortly to tell you for sure.

Hello Heatherbates, welcome to the vine,

Weedol contains the chemical Diquat, which is a close relative of Paraquat (Gramoxone) Both only kill the green material it touches and Shirlthegirl43 is correct, it become inactive as soon as it hits the soil.

Diquat is often used with "stale" seedbeds, where you prepare your seedbed in advance and allow the weeds to germinate and then you "burn" them off before you sow your crop.

The resulting potato crop will be fine and you should have no worries about eating them. Enjoy

Further to heatherbates' question, I was wandering what people think about it being safe to use with animals. We have a paviour yard to run the dogs and there is a lot of grass showing through the cracks. Is it safe to use as a path clearer. The problem is the dogs tend to nibble at the grass. Although the box says it is safe for animals, I've never dared try it on the yard.
