  • Weather, supplier, me or what causing pea no show.

Sowed a packet of T&M Alderman peas, bought this year. Date sowed 9th June.
Covered with perspex sheets to deter mice.
No sign of anything yet, appart for weeds.
    Should I wait?
I have some Cobra french beans germinated about 3 inch high.
Was thinking of planting them over the peas.
    What do you think?
    Thanks Jimmy

I'd give them another week before you give up on them...

I'd carefully dig up a couple of trowel fulls of soil in the relevant place before I gave up hope - may well be they have germinated, but not showed above ground yet.

I would plant them amongst the peas,it’s only been about 9 days though, they like making a root for ages. Peas sowed around beans is a good idea, there’s always a little bit of space spare, have you noticed how well weeds grow next to beans, really lush tall weeds it’s a nice bit of nitrogen for any adjacent seed & it might as well not be a weed seed is my thoughts...

I reckon it's muck aa to when they went in, mine went in the ground second half of may and are slowly coming up. I wonder if the cloudy wet weather has put yours off

It was a full packet, an 8 foot row down the side of the GH. Sowed on the 9th.
                Only 4 peas have appeared.
Had a little dig, all the rest seemed to have gone to mush!
So hoed the lot in along with a flush of weed seeds.
Will plant my Cobra bean plants in place.

After 3 attempts I managed to get my Hurst Green Shaft to grow in the front border.
Cuthberts seeds, looks like 100% germination.

I usually chit my peas for a few days in a plastic box, even if I am then going to sow them direct.
