  • Wax Gourd Failure - any advice

I have failed dismally to get my wax gourd to fruit, it's an enormous plant on my allotment almost 3m square and I have had a few flowers over the past 4 months but no fruit at all.
Anyone had any success and would care to share your secrets?

    Lots of foliage? No fruit?

Could be an abundance of nitrogen (good for leaf growth) and a lack of potash (for fruit production)

That's a very good point about the potash, I think I'll try again next year with a sprinkling of potash! Also after reading further it looks like it's hit & miss for getting male & female flowers at the same time with wax gourds.

Might be to do with low temperature here in UK, cos it's grown in India and Pakistan
