    Velocity Red Drumhead help please

    Has anyone come across this variety anywhere or know where I can get it? I have had a gurgle and all I can find is someone mentioning a green version.

    The reason I ask is I was looking through some gardening books and my Dad had listed it in his, so he was growing it some 40 odd years ago and it would be nice to find it. He also lists primo - well that one is easy enough

    I am assuming it is a cabbage - red drumhead was available from Sutton Seeds - not sure if the velocity element is a X.

      Found it mentioned on another forum in 2012

      Just reading Lawrence Hills Fighting Like the Flowers again. He mentions Velocity cabbage sowing to eating in 10 weeks

      According to the Catholic herald March 1953
      "The early cabbage Velocity can be sown about now, to give fresh, tender green for those who like their cabbages raw. eaten as lettuce. It is particularly sweet, crisp, eating."

      Seems you're not the only one who is searching for Velocity - unless you're the same person in 2012

        The red drumhead...again without the velocity bit as per tryshard post is a heritage variety of cabbage.

        Perhaps the "velocity" but has been dropped? Name changes seem to be so common these days.

          Nope not me. I think that is the post I found but the person that posted that quote talks about eating it as tasty greens

              I found a blog post (granted from 2011) which talks about velocity and red drumhead as two entirely separate entities. Maybe he was meaning them as two varieties rather than one? Otherwise as someone else said, maybe they were crossed?
