My turnips ( think the were snowball), all the leaves went yellow. Being a nosy so and so i decided to pull one up. Once i pulled it up it was like something out of a horror movie. The soil was riddled with little white maggots........ ewwww.
Luckly they are being grown in pots, so nothing else will be affected.
Any ideas what these might be?

Enviromesh or fine mesh of some type is probably your only solution to the problem. As far as I know ALL soil insecticides for amatuer use are now banned...........probably with good reason!

use collars around the plant and net on the top to prevent this... Last year my turnips were affected too but the damage was not that bad. I had to chuck only some of them... but I wasnt happy by the activity of maggots...
