  • Tumbling toms

Got a couple of tumbling toms from the garden centre a couple of months ago and put them in big pots. The plants have come on lovely and are a mass of yellow flowers but as yet no toms!!
I've been reading on here that most people have toms by now, so my question is ....am i doing anything wrong or not doing something i should?
    Any advice most appreciated,

    Simon

if you've got the flowers, the toms won't be far behind.i've just had my first tiny toms appear this week on one plant, the others are still all flowers.don't worry.

I have 4 plants of tumbling tom - one has half a dozen toms, another has one tom and the others are still just flowers.
I think it seems like "most" have tomatoes because those with tomatoes have got something to report

          Hi
Are there are little round green things where any of the flowers have fallen off; if not there will be when they do fall off.

It's been quite a chilly year, so I think alot of toms are slower than they would usually be.

Also depends on how far south you are and how early the plants were established. Because of a delay putting up a greenhouse, my plants went in late and I'm not expecting tomatoes until at least mid/end of July.

I'm growing Balconi which, I think, is quite similar to your Tumbling Toms. They're outside in hanging baskets. It sounds like my tomatoes are at a similar stage to yours - plenty of flowers. However, I've got one or two small, green tomatoes developing.

So it sounds to me like what you're experiencing is pretty normal - at at any rate, we're both in the same boat! I guess we'll get there eventually, if a little later than some people.

                  Good luck!

I got a tumbling tom from the garden centre on Sunday, its quite a small bush but has a fair few flowers and some have fallen off, in their place are little green things, which are toms. It must just depend on the plant. I mean mine was in a shocking condition on Sunday at the GC (its roots had grown out of the drainage holes and were dangling! Morons) but it still looks like its gonna fruit.
Time is the only thing, im sure you're not doing anything wrong

I've been picking red toms from my tumbling plants for a few days now.BUT I started growing them very early in the year so i'd expect them to be a bit more advanced than some others.Yours seems the same as others that were put in later.I'm sure that you'll get plenty tomatoes.Dont worry.

I have six baskets with 20 plants in. Some have started to set fruit, there is however an awful lot of green growth and because they are all in a row it is like a jungle. I have a job to get the watering can in to the base of the baskets. I would judge that each basket must have at least 300 flowers. I usually spray mine twice a day overhead to help the fruit set.

All the plants outside are a blaze of flowers. Inside plants have just started to fruit.

My 3 tumbling toms outdoors have only just started to show little green fruits this week but flowers have been there for a few weeks now.

It will happen - just takes time.
