  • trouble with yellow horn wax runners

    hi bought some yellow kinghorn wax thing mag jig seeds from lidl.can i hell get them to germinate they are just turning to mush in the soil.is it too early for them as they are dwarf runner beans,i think i am now paraniod about growing the bxxxxdy things lol

    They aren't runners Jo Jo, they are French beans.

    Still, they need the same treatment more or less. I am germinating mine on damp kitchen towel on the windowsill (soak the beans overnight in cold water first). Germination is taking about a week

        Don't let them get too wet, even with the kitchen roll method. The lighter bean seeds seem to rot more easily my experience.

          I bought the same variety from Lidl last year and only got 13 seeds to germinate from the entire packet. I suspect that their seed source or storage conditions are less than desirable. My own collected seed of Kinghorn Wax had a much higher germination rate this year.
