  • Transplanting rhubarb

I intend to transplant some rhubarb from one garden to another. Is November the best time to lift it? My garden won't be ready to transplant it then so I'm thinking about putting it in a large pot and then tranplanting it in early spring (Feb/March).

Is this feasible? Any advice would be appreciated.

Rhubarb is better transplanted when it is dormant, Yorky. Can't you wait till winter?

i had a large crown in a very large pot - it didn't do very well - last week i split the crown into 7 pieces and planted 6 in the ground and 1 back in the large pot - 3 in the ground plus the one in the pot are doing very well now

i'd suggest if you're going to keep it in a pot for a while, split it into more than one pot and get it in the ground as soon as possible
