  • Tracking Elderflower Experiment

I wonder if we could do it....

One of the things I think whilst I am driving round and about from school to school is what is in flower at different times round the country. And I know that Elderflower is due out soon....so I wondered if we as a community could see if we could track our first sightings of Elder Flowers as we see them.

Picture here; but if you don't know what there are, try googling them.

I haven't seen any yet, so I am hoping to have got in early enough to track them coming into flower from the South up the country.

A photo taken of the ones you see if you see them, posted here, would be great.

And of course, tracking the first tastings of and Elderflower Fizz or champers would be a brucie bonus

As you see them come into flower; can you post

    date seen & location

I wonder if they all come out within days or over a longer period.....

Mine have some flowers open higher up in the tree but the main ones are still in bud. It is not far off though.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

ours hanging over the fence look promising - maybe 10 days I reckon, they are definitely later than last year. I will keep an eye out as making more stuff this year ready for the inevitable big bang in the shed whilst on holiday (no euphamisms thanks )

Quite a lot of it round here flowering although there's loads more still in bud.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

                    Send it to me please

I am sure I saw a tree in flower when driving back from Whitley Bay last week but not sure exactly where it was sorry.

None flowering round us yet though.

Zazen did you want us to spot the first flower or the tree/ bush in full bloom? If it is the former we are too late already.

The buds are forming up here, I would probably say a couple more weeks til they come out. Am ready and waiting as missed them for bubbly last year. Our red elders flower later than the dark ones so will hopefully get quite a few bottles done this year!
