Hi CJ welcome to the vine

I'm only growing a couple of varieties compared to some here

    German red strawberry
    sun gold
    Indian moon
    indigo apple
    tumbling Tom red
    gardeners delighted
    Black Russian
    brown sugar
    blond boar
    black + brown boar
    dark Galaxy
    buffalo horn

I usually grow them because I like the name not because they are suited to a particular job. I use what ever's ripe for whatever I happen to be making.

      Sungold (10), Pink Charmer(6), Gardeners Delight(5) and Ananas Noire(1).

      Number of plants in brackets.

These are my 4 favourites. Other varieties that i have grown in the past i have found to be quite tasteless and so i have been doing a process of elimination over the last few years. These are the ones i'm left with.

                  Hi and welcome.
I've not heard of "Big Beef" - have you grown it before?

I've just ordered a packet of T&M's latest offering - Oh Happy Day F1. This is said to be a cross between an American blight resistant variety and a Marmande type. They say it outperforms Mountain Magic for blight resistance, can be grown outdoors and has good flavour. I'm going to try it on the allotment and see if it lives up to expectations.

                      http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ear_95506.html

Have just picked up Cornue des Andes from Thelma, so will be adding that to my plants this year. Thanks, TS, by the way.

                        + Marmande
                        + Money maker
                        + Ruby (Bulgarian) from RS

                        + Gardeners delight
                        + Red Pear
                        + Sungold

First time with the Marmandes last year, hardy growers with nice taste & beefsteak texture
