    Tomato plant Questions

    As I have many tomato seedlings and do not remember all about them once sown, decided to ask here ..and refer back


    Firstly, google search is not giving much ifo on Orange Favourite tomato. it is early outdoor tomato. and so it is determinate ?


    also can I plant 'sweet and neat yellow', tomato 'minibel' plants in the ground to save time of watering

    Are they Orange Favorite (American spelling) in which case they are Indeterminate, Early & Outdoor are statements made by the seed provider and may apply to wherever they have grown them before (the UK is on the edge of where you can grow tomatoes outdoors, its not really hot enough consistently). Through a combination of Blight and cold I never get ripe tomatoes at my allotment outdoors although I can get them quite happily in my garden which is slightly more protected.

    As regards growing them in the ground, I usually grow my tomatoes in the borders of the greenhouse but they still need watering.

      They only grow about 12-15ing tall and the fruiting branches tend to hang down, so you'd get mud slashed fruit and slug damage if you plant them at soil level.
