tidied plot

  • tidied plot

    I sowed some plants/seeds today and smartened ou the plot a bit, with fruit trees running down the drive side and raspberries, joan j and polka, running down the other side with the raised beds and rhubarb down the middle, so no space wasted, I took a photo from each end to try to show the set up that works for me..Click image for larger version

    I don't know why I cannot enlarge the photos, and I thought I was doing so well..

      I've tried enlarging them too but they go out of focus.
      Never mind, we get the idea - and it does look tidy

        it produces enough to fill a 6x3x3 freezer to overflowing, and that's after giving 50-60lbs of rhubarb away each year, then we also have all the fruits that grow in pots around the garden, five a day, no problemo ....

          If I had to choose between growing fruit or veg, it would be fruit! So rewarding and once you've bought the trees/bushes you have them for life

              I find the "5 a day" unbearably confusing.
              Why for instance does fruit juice have to be unsweetened? Does sweetening it destroy all its benefits?
              Why do peas and beans only count one portion regardless of how many you eat?
              Why do sweet potatoes count but not yams, and what's the difference?
              How big is a "portion" anyway?

              If I eat 5 lettuce leaves, a handful of microgreens, 3 spinach leaves and a handful of small leaves of stuff like mizuna, corn salad etc, how many portions is that? I haven't a clue, so I have stopped counting.

              As for 10 a day, I dread to think how my guts would react to that!
