I would have thought they would be fine. You'd have to drink alot of tea to have many though!

as long as theere's not too much milk in them. it pongs a bit otherwise
if they're in bags, break the bags first, it lets the tea leaves out and you can collect up the plasticy/papery bits after.

I put my tea bag's to one side until there dry then I split them open, empty the contents into my kitchen compost bucket then eventually into the compost bin outside. I don't have milk in my tea so they don't smell. I also mix some of them with my ground coffee to make a mulch.
I get lot's of coffee ground's & Tea bag's from my local cafe, if you know anyone who work's in a cafe it might be worth asking them to save them for you.

Loose leaf tea is good for composting as theres no bag to fiddle with. Sometimes they're alot better quality too.

My mother used to swear by them for the hydrangeas.

Im a chef at a big resturant that only sells loose teas, so i can bring home about 2kg a day. Will it be ok this much around my plum tree?

Yes! I may be tempted to compost them for a while first though. Probably not needed, just a feeling I have.

I wouldn't put that much every day round your plum tree. Do you have a compost heap you could add the leaves to? Or borders you could sprinkle (? correct word) them onto?

Can't answer myself, but ohhh how I do love to smother weeds. It's prob fine, but try first on something you have a spare of.

If used directly as a mulch, spent tea leaves can attract a (white) mould. I'm not sure it does any harm but it is not particularly attractive.
When I was younger all of our tea leaves were tipped on to a Dahlia outside the kitchen door - and the plant thrived on it.
