I'm totally new to growing veg. I've started withsome swede. They seem to be flowering already and have shot up: the tops are about 2 feet tall, very spindly . Is this right? If not, any advice on where I've gone wrong would be much appreciated!

My swede are all sown direct and now nicely through now but still very small

Thanks, Bigmally and all. Read the thread and see swede aren't the easy veg I thought! I forgot to say that I bought plants from the garden centre, didn't sow seeds. Just assumed that if they were on sale, it was the right time to plant them.....Originally posted by Bigmallly View Post

Well, Alison and Two Sheds, I've learned my lesson: check with this forum in future before I spend my hard earned cash! Surely kind hearted garden centres wouldn't treat us poor novice gardeners so cruelly. It's not as if they want to make money out of us!!!
