  • Squash gone splotchy

    Hello

I'm growing kuri squash for the first time, and climbing it up a frame. It's done well and set one beautiful big squash which is now turning orange-gold. It has plenty of male flowers, and it also had 2 further female flowers which seemed to have set 2 swelling squash. Those 2 squash have now become covered in brown splotches and gone squishy.

Does anyone know what might have caused it and how I might stop it happening to later fruits?

The lower leaves look a bit yellowed and blotchy, so I've been wondering if it might like some food. I have bokashi liquid and tomorite both available, will either of those do it any good?

    Thank you for your help.

That usually happens when the female flowers didn't get properly pollinated

Perhaps you could try hand pollinating the next female flowers, just to make sure

Ah, ok, thank you - once the beasties had managed to pollinate one, I imagined they would do the rest too. I will give them a hand next time. If it has any more female flowers - none showing yet.

      Thanks again
