  • Spongy seed spuds

I decided to get some King Edward spuds in asap. I saw some reduced in Homebase -£1.19 for a 2kg bag.

Thing is, I opened them up today and they are a little bit spongy, and some are damp.

Are they usable? Will they produce spuds that are safe to eat?

It is just potatoes going through the natural cycle. They will be losing moisture and have gone soft. They should grow and give you an edible crop.

      Thanks, tattieman.

I guess I should give them a good watering when they are planted?

Yeah that will help. Give them a bit extra fertilizer just to help them along.

If they've gone off they'll honk to high heaven! If they don't they ok to plant.
