Has anyone else put their spinach out yet ? I have had the bed covered for the past month and as my plants were starting to get a bit big, planted them out, watered and covered with hooped plastic cloches.
I have some kept back and plan on sowing more every 2-3 weeks. What are you all doing?

I'll be sowing mine in modules in the next couple of weeks along with some chard.

I never have any luck transplanting spinach. I direct sowed a small row a couple of weeks back under a cloche (up now), and I’ll be sowing another row soon.

I have spinach in my hotbed that is ready to eat, and some more outside which was sown in early March and currently has one pair of small true leaves. I covered it with a plastic sheet to stop the compost drying out until it germinated, but it is now uncovered and growing ok.

I agree that spinach does not appear to much like being transplanted.

Not happy Spinach doesn’t like transplanting. I wasn’t aware and sowed them in a tray!

          Fingers crossed.

          Kind Regards.............Rob

Should have said that I use newspaper pots so there's no disturbance when I plant them out. Doing it that way works out fine for me.

Didn't realise it didn't like transplanting. I always start in cells in the polytunnel before planting out.
I've never had a problem with it...................so far

Mine won't be going out for a while yet. It's only just started to germinate.

                Thanks for your answers.
I've come to this conclusion over most things on the 'lotment-- it either grows or it doesn't.
It's a bit grim out there at the moment though, wet and cloudy.

Only one out of the entire tray has germinated! Disaster. I might do some more within the next week if it isn’t too late.
