Sowing onion seeds

heated inside, they willk need some heat to germinate, what variety have you got?

When they have germinated, can they then go in the greenhouse?

Onions don't need heat to germinate ... they only need 2 C to get going, although a little warmer will speed things up considerably

I do mine on a cold windowsill, then move them out to a plastic greenhouse when they're up.

I too have got lilia red onion to sow this year! I sowed them last year and used them as spring onions - delish on the barbie!! (I mixed carrot and lilia onion seeds together and broadcast them in the raised bed. Didn't get carrot fly - maybe just a fluke!!)

Mine are on the kitchen windowsill too. It's reasonable in the day (though there's no radiator in there) but drops down a bit at night. Problems with early seed sowings are always related to too much heat/not enough light.
