  • Skinny Aubergines

This is the first time I've tried Aubergines and although the plants looked healthy and bore fruit, as you can see they grew long and skinny. Does anyone know why, and will they still be edible and tasty?

That could just be the variety, what is it called? E.g. I've lived in Kenya for a bit, and there you could pretty much only get finger aubergines. Very tasty, and I miss them!

They look normal for finger aubergines, which I guess is the sort you are growing.

Getting any kind of fruit from aubergines is a feather in your cap. I’m sure they’ll be delicious!

I'm not sure what variety they are but the pic on the packet cover had fat fruit in it. I'll let you know how they taste

Look exactly like my early purple variety. That’s the shape they are supposed to be so I’m guessing that’s similar to your variety and the picture on the pack isn’t correct.

Black beauty are conventional shaped if you are looking for that type of variety to try next year.
