  • Show leeks watering ?

First year growing leeks in the leek show .
Got the leeks planted out earlier in the week and watered them in . How often should I water the leeks they are growing in trench out side . Should I use a feeding tube got some 25mm blue pipe in now should they be bigger . Any advice thanks in advance . Dom

Hello Dom and welcome to the Forum.
Not a clue about your question though - I grow leeks for eating and struggle to get them pencil thickness to plant out!

The simple answer is water them when they need it. If the soil is moist around them, that's a good indicator that they are ok.
Don't overdo the watering as this can lead to leek rust, which you don't want!

      Good luck in the show.

I do grow decent sized veggies, but I don't show them, I just water all my onion family when the soil looks dry, but I have light sandy soil, in summer that is usually everyday, just use a hose pipe. Loads of manure goes in before planting and I don't feed anything else after that.
