  • Should my asapagus be showing now?

    Hello All

I planted an asapagus bed last spring. OH built a rather strange looking bed from pallets and I lovingly prepared it and planted 14 plants. Mulched with manure in the autumn and now onlyabout 4 have come up. Have I done someting wrong or am I being impatient (one of my not so nice traits!) or maybe the snow got them. I will be sooo disappointed it they have died on me.

New crowns will take a while to show, so patience is the name of the game.

I planted some that were grown from seed last year and they have just started to put up some very thin weedy shoots........I'll have to be patient a while longer.

I've got a mixed bed - some old crowns, some new ones to replace lost plants - just had my first picking today - yum yum. Nothing like it. Need to remember which ones to leave and which ones to use!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Mine aren't through yet either but when I did a search on the internet it said beginning of May so I'm still hopeful.

Oh the relief! My Mum always said patience is a virtue. Maybe I should just grow radish.
