  • Serpente di sicilia

Thought I would have a go with these. How long do they take to germinate? I sowed them at the same time with sugar pie and crown prince squash and the others have germinated.

    Anyone grown these before?

I think Bobster (bobleponge) grew these last year. I sewed all my pumpkins/squashes and courgettes on Saturday...no signs of any germination yet, but I'll keep you posted!

Well, my Serpenta aren't showing yet, but my Tromba d'Albenga are, but the seeds are very different. I've had a furtle and can't see any signs of life, how about yours?

I threw mine away today [I only put a couple in] - no signs of anything.

        Sorry Boble.

I put some in at one of the schools, will check on them tomorrow to see if there are any signs.

I wonder if we were meant to do something special to get them to germinate...how long had yours been in for Zaz?

28 March they went in........half germinated ok but half didn't. Strange as all in the same module tray.

Some of the casings were just hollow when I checked on them.....Been taking the germinated ones out and repotting for a few weeks now but lost patience today with the remaining ones.

I put quite a few [at Boble's request] in seed parcels so wondering if anyone else has managed to get some up and running.

Funnily enough I have 1 serpente up from the two I sowed. There are another 7 pots of all sorts that aren't doing anything.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

zaz: the ones that germinated, how long did they take?

The ones I've got came from the seed parcel so it must have been one of them. Wondering if I should pop some more in...

Just a quick question to those of you that have grown these.

Was gonna do them this year but have to be creative as to where I put them.

Would you say one plant to a Morrisons bucket would be ok or are they very deep rooters? Was going to do 5 in a row and then make a trelis up behind them to grow.

I didn't see this last year - we didn't grow any in the end and I can only think that it was because of our manure problem.

I do have about 10 this year though - I'm going to be taking lots of squashes to the lottie soon to sell to the other lotmenteers....

Aren't these classed as a courgette even though they look like a long cucumber?
