    Hi,
Want to make a scarecrow, or should i say scare pigeon for my plot.
How is the best way to go about this and how should i stuff it!
Have pinched some clothes out of Mr Miffy's draw and have a hat and gloves etc but unsure best way to pad him out and stand him up, the scarecrow that is not Mr Miffy.
    Thanks guys.

A pair of buttoned up overalls is a good start! Helps to hold everything together. Traditionally stuffed with straw but crumpled up nespaper would do. A broomshank through the arm holes..................!

The scarecrow works because the arms ae stretched out giving the shadow of a bird of prey. Try raising your arms in a flock of birds and se what happens!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

2 broomsticks, 2 pairs of tights, legs bum arms and head from the tights, stuff with straw so the rain drains through ... then dress sewing the bits together with rot proof thread

We stuffed ours with scrunched up newspaper in carrier bags to stay dry...adding straw at the bottoms of his legs & out of his armms...just for the proper authentic look!
I had to nail his head on as it kept falling off!...still need to find him a hat!
There's a pic of him on our profile page in Lottie album.
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

Thanks guys after reading this have made my scarecrow from scavenged bits from out the shed, used a pair of Mr Miffy's old trousers and one of his old shirts, used an old potatoe sack for his head and riggers gloves for arms, stuffed him with the bubble wrap i use on the greenhouse in the spring, he has a nice big tum like Mr Miffy thought it only fair that he should seeing as he is wearing his clothes.
Use a broom handle and assorted bits of wood for body and arms, spread out as you suggested, i have to admit he looks pretty good, made Mr Miffy start when he came round the corner of the yard and wasn't expecting to see him there!!
Just hope he does the same for those pesky pigeons on the lottie

You could try dangling some of those freebie CD's from his arms on bits of string that might help scare off those pigeons.
