  • saved runner bean seeds sprouting

Some of my beans i have removed from the dried pods and stored on a tray at home have begun to sprout.

I am guessing they are now useless, so have separated them out. I am wondering why this has happened, and is it worth just sowing them in the ground as a green manure while the weather is still ok.

I know they wont last but if i am chucking them away anyway, is it worth it?

The seeds need to be dried properly and then stored in dry airy frost free conditions. We don't have access to see your place of storage but you should know what isn't quite right

      Thanks for your reply
I put them on some cardboard near-ish a radiator. Not all have sprouted, only about 5%, so not sure what went wrong along the line.

Well they need moisture to germinate so either weren't dry or they were in a damp atmosphere?

I guess they must have been damp.

          Nice one

If it's any bonus, I grew some cracking Runner Beans over winter in the polytunnel.
