  • Runner beans? which way up?

Hi viners, I,m puzzled about which way up beans are planted in pots or ground, read somewhere on here that they go scar down but have just read in Garden News scar up. Please help.
I grew them scar up I think and it worked. Roll on the warm weather.

Guy! I honestly don't think it really matters! Most plants/seeds grow toward light anyway!

Seen a thing last year, about putting "Daff's" (Bulbs that is) on there side who corrected themselves!

If you chit them first in a little bag of compost you'll see the root emerging. Then you can plant them whichever way up you choose

As a rule, the roots go down and the growing tip goes up no hassles and irrelevant of how you plant, every now and again you see a funny one that takes a bit to sort itself out. Ain't nature wonderful

                  And peas too

The way I look at it though, nature don't plant in specific ways so the seeds need inbuilt methods of sorting themselves out.

But as noted this sometimes goes awry

                      They have a way up?!?

I don't have time to be worrying about which way up they are, a hole is produced, a seed dropped in, if it's lucky it gets covered over, then it has to fend for itself. Tough love, it's all I have time for
