  • runner bean seeds

I have loads of runner seeds from last year, far too many to plant. Are they OK to eat (like kidney beans)? If so, how best to cook?

Are they seeds that you have saved from last years crop? If so I would say ok to eat. If they are in a packet of seeds you bought I'd be more careful as they may have been treated with chemicals. But I'm no expert, I' sure someone else will be along soon to put me right!!

Yes, they are saved seeds from the uneaten beans.

Should be ok then, but as with all beans, make sure they have a good rolling boil for 10 minutes or so before simmering till tender. Beans can contain a toxin but it is destroyed on boiling. Also, don't add salt (if you like it) until the cooking process is finished as that can toughen bean skins.

Did you give her a cow in exchange?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Why not put them on the seed exchange for other seeds you want?
