  • Roma Tomato Keeled over....!!!

    Hi all
I have two Romas growing away nicely (or so I thought) in v large pots & growbags. I had not pruned them as they are bush types and told not to.

Last night one of them toppled over and is lying on the floor... Its not dead or doesnt look it...any ideas why its done that?? I have looked after it well etc, so I am baffled!
What should I do with it?

Check the stem has not been nibbled - this happened to one of my tomato plants last year so I bound it up with a fabric sticking plaster. Then stake it.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

      Hi Paul.

Although Roma are a short bush style tomato, they still might need a little support.
I have found a picture which might help.

I've had this from overwatering I think, although usually in pots.
I have dried them out and they have recovered.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

The instructions on my Roma plant said to pinch out sideshoots, so that is what I am doing. I don't have room for a bush tom in my 6'x6' GH.

Its not too big - about 2 ft high, just decided it would rather lay down than stand up
As adviced I have stood it back up inspected the stem (no chewing thank goodness) and put big stake behind it and tied it to that....its kind of upright now....!!

Re instructions, I was told not to pinch out anything, only the top if it gets too tall.
