  • Rhubarb Query

    Hi guys

I found some rhubarb in a weed infested part of our garden...

I am going to weed-kill the area to make way for more work in the garden, but would like to save it if possible.

Is it OK to move it to my fruit bed? Have I found it at the wrong time?
I don;t mind if I move it and I can't harvest it for 18 months etc

    Cheers

    OWG

You have nothing to loose and rhubarb is fairly resilient anyway!

Its not an ideal time OWG but I have done similar. Try to get as much of a rootball as you can then put in into a well prepared and watered hole, firm in and keep watered well for a month or two.

You may need to pull a few leaves to help reduce stress but leave it alone for the rest of this season.

Dig it up, replant asap and keep well watered. Should be fine. Don't try and crop this year, though.
